Q. What advice do you have for folks aspiring to your type of career?
A. Successful managers should never put their people in "agency mode." That's when you direct people so much, they stop thinking independently. They act like an agent, not like a principal in control of things. People taking initiative need to be encouraged to take risk, not criticized for failure.
