We the Board of Directors of The Mendel Catholic Prep Alumni Foundation, maintaining the tremendous momentum for “One Mendel, All Eras” that started with the recent Evening of Champions event in August 2013, are pleased to announce several major developments.
The Board of Directors now include:
Eric Rouse ’75 Chairman Jamie Mayes ’78 Vice-Chair Danny Randall ’82 President Fredrick Bates ’76 Executive V.P. & Governance Chair Mike Foley ’71 Vice President Joe Palumbo ’71 Secretary David Ireland ’78 Treasurer Kerwin “HUD” Hudson ’77 Social Media & Web Chair
We are working to identify additions to the Board, who will represent classes from the 50's, 60's and 80's. It is imperative that we hear the voice of all Monarchs who played a part in creating the legacy of Mendel Catholic Prep, as we move into this new era of “One Mendel.”
On October 23, 2013, Anthony Johnson stepped down as Board Chair & President to attend to personal matters. We thank him for his dedication to Mendel. We also thank two past directors Jon Merrill and Kerry Tripp whose schedules do not allow for them to continue serving on the Board.
We are one step closer to creating “One Mendel, All Eras,” as talks are underway with Jack Vlazny from the Alumni Association, and Bob Napoli of the HOF Committee regarding the possibility of merging the organizations under the Foundation’s 501(c)3 tax-exempt not-for-profit umbrella. On October 24, 2013, the Board of Directors of the Mendel Foundation authorized and voted unanimously to prepare and present to Bob and Jack an invitation to merge the Alumni Association and HOF Committee into the Foundation. Both organizations would operate as independent Committees of the Foundation, but would enjoy our tax-exempt status. Of course they would continue to do all of the things, and host all of the events, as they had done in the past, but would be inclusive of all eras as has long been their desire, and would have an eye towards charitable giving. We look forward to making this come to fruition sometime in 2014, hopefully before the All Class Reunion so that all alumni can benefit from the Foundation’s tax-exempt status.
As we move forward to put the finishing touches on an eventful and encouraging 2013, it is our hope and goal to continue to bring all Alumni together as "One Mendel” in 2014!
