| 2008-05-05 16:16 - Leo Lindbloom former Mendel Cafeteria Manager Passes Away | | Posted by TomCleary | more from same (Alumni Passing) |  | Larry Lindbloom reports that Leo Lindbloom, longtime manager of Mendel's lunchroom passed away on April 21st at his son's home in Ludington, Michigan. It was Father Seary who first gave Leo the food service contract for the lunchroom.
Leo was also the father-in-law of the late Russell DeBruin(1962).

|  | | Lindbloom, Leo Joseph beloved husband for 50 years of the late Nano Josephine (nee Hickey), died April 21, 2008, at the home of his son, Leo Lindbloom with whom he had resided since April, 2007. He was born September 9, 1920, in Chicago, IL, to Franz and Helen (nee Reilly) Lindbloom. Preceded in death by five brothers, Frances (Rosemaree), Raymond, Ralph, Richard (Margaret), Edward (late Mary Jane) and infant sister, Helen. Was the loving father of Mary Anne (late Russell) DeBruin, Mokena, IL, Joseph (Cheryl) Lindbloom, Homewood, IL, Rita (David) Ward, Ludington, MI, Leo (Kathy) Lindbloom, Ludington, MI and Mark (Jennifer) Lindbloom, New Lenox, IL, fond grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of 17. Leo will be missed by many relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. Leo spent some of his childhood in St. Paul, MN, was a 1938, graduate of Mount Carmel High School, U.S. Army Air Corps. Veteran stationed in San Antonio, TX, during WWII and was self-employed at Mendel Catholic High School operating the cafeteria for close to 30 years. Later he managed the employee cafeteria at Griffith Laboratories until his retirement in 1990 when Leo and Nano moved to Ludington. He enjoyed sailing, flying, fishing and relaxing with family and friends. A wake will take place Saturday, April 26, 2008, at St. Simon Church, Ludington, MI, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Celebration of Leo's life at 1 p.m. Mass. Memorials may be directed for Masses, St. Simon Food Pantry, the Hospice of Mason County or the Alzheimer's Association. | 2008-05-09 18:49 - ou812cakeman | Mr. Lindbloom was a good man. He gave many of us a chance to earn a lunch by doing clean ups after our lunch periods. To all of Leo's family and friends. He will be in our prayers. Sorry for your loss.
