Exterior view of George M. Pullman Trade School at 521 East 113th Street in the Pullman community area of Chicago, Illinois. A smokestack is visible at the back of the school, and an American flag waves over the entrance.
Dated:1915
south park was east boundary, indiana ave was west boundary,111th was south boundary and 110th street was north.,istill remember after i had my two girls and we would take them back there and feed the ducks.
If I remember correctly, South Park was the eastern boundary street (that was changed to Martin Luther King Drive around 1970 or so) and Indiana was the western boundary street. Remember all the underclassman had to park their cars on Indiana as the parking lot on campus was for seniors only. Then up the hill to the AVE, Michigan Avenue and all the great joints to eat and hang out. The correrct address was 250 east 111th street which was estabished when Pullman became part of the City of Chicago. WAitken 71
All of the addresses are probably correct. 521East 113th Street or 521 East 111th Street was probably a Pullman, IL address (not yet part of Chicago). The grounds were actually quite large - 2 city blocks on each side. The Chicago address of 250 East 111th reflects State Street as the East/West Meridian. I remember Indiana Avenue as the Eastern boundary street before it became Martin Luther Drive. I do not recall the Western boundary street (early dementia?). It is hard to believe I began attendance at Mendel 40 years ago. Doc Hecker (69)
