Info provided by Don Goeppner for Jim Burke. I was the Deputy Project Manager for Operations for two years, providing leadership, training, planning and oversight for 62 locations throughout the country of Iraq. Stationed in Balad and Baghdad, I flew nightly to locations where we provided food, water, fuel, maintenance and logistics warehouse and transportation directly to the US and Coalition forces in Iraq. When the Surge began, I returned home to recover from the nightly shelling of mortars and rocket fire by the non-Iraqi Insurgents.
I am returning in a new role, with a different contractor, and will be managing the scheduling and planning for the establishment of the National Depot for the Iraq Army. We will be working side-by-side local Iraqi citizens who are just trying to provide a living for their families. Ask my fellow Monarchs to pray for us. This was dangerous before, this kind of proximity tests the thin line between courage and foolish. I am representing you all after completing my 20 year career as a Logistics Officer and Medical Evacuation Pilot. I feel the work is important, necessary and only for those who have considerable experience in the military and in the civilian sector.
May you all enjoy a splendid and happy day, remember that we are gentlemen...and God Bless the USA!
Kind regards,
Jim Burke '69
